May 3, 2020 makes 2 years since he went to prison..

15 is an exciting age in life right?

There’s a lot of things going on and you can’t help but enjoy it. That was complete opposite for me. When I was only 15 years old, my step father started sexually abusing me.

It was the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in life. I woke up every day with a million things running through my head. Why me? Why is this happening to me? I felt like it was all my fault and for years I honestly believed that. I hated myself to the point I couldn’t even look in the mirror. I felt nasty and worthless.

It wasn’t until the age of 25 when I had kids of my own that I realized that I did nothing to deserve what was done to me. I was a child. I didn’t ask for any of that. I finally started loving and valuing myself the way I should have the entire time. I’m not a victim. I’m a survivor, but most importantly I’m Jami and somebody else’s actions don’t define my worth.
